600 km of people

When I see pictures of historic moments like this, I often wonder whether I would be involved if I lived during that time. I can't imagine driving my car across a country to participate in a human chain like this for an unknown purpose. But the concept of it is stunning.

Also, I was 6 years old at the time the Berlin Wall fell in November 1989. I have no recollection of that year except for December that brought the 1st of 3 surgeries.

On August 23, 1989, about 2 million people from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania formed a human chain that united all 3 countries to show the world their desire to escape the Soviet Union and the communism that brought only suffering and poverty. This power stretched 600 km, called the "Singing Revolution."
