Many years ago, Arundhati Roy said, “Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.” It's a quiet day in Virginia where you might hear the footsteps of the Buddhist monks from Texas walking for peace, walking to model another way of being. It's going to be a loud day in Santa Clara on the other side of the country when Bad Bunny takes the stage and demonstrates that to be an American means many possiibilities in many tongues and maybe speaks up again against ICE and for all of us who are for all of us.
Inbetween in Minneapolis, beautiful solidarity continues to unfold. I was so moved by the account I posted earlier today, declaring"that even the most long term organizers who've been here for decades can't keep track of all the resistance that is going on. There are so many self-organized crews just doing work that in any conversation with someone from another neighborhood you might stumble over a whole collective of people resisting in ways you didn't think of. There's a crew of carpenters just going around fixing kicked-in doors..... People standing watch outside daycares and schools."
The other world has countless faces, countless languages, and all of them sing of love and kindness, solidarity and possibility. Listen for the songs. Sing your own or join the chorus, because it's your world, your song, your possibilities too.
