Hello again

Why, hello there!

I recentely read that we forget 90% of the things we read. I can definitively concur, considering my parental afliction of the inability to recall words, actions, thoughts from the last 2minutes, much less from last week.

I have been struggling  with the fleeting nature of my life, wondering what in the world I would keep if I were to have a stroke, what I would focus on if a wild fire ripped through our house.

So here's to focusing on the things I would like to remember amidst so much I find so distasteful.

I am not sure how often I will be able to post because you know, kids. But here's to trying to focus on the things I would like to remember.

This Shakespear Sonnet stopped me in my tracks when I heard Judy Dench recite this spontaneously in an interview.

Sonnet 29: When, in disgrace with fortune and men’s eyes

BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

When, in disgrace with fortune and men’s eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state,
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries,
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featured like him, like him with friends possessed,
Desiring this man’s art and that man’s scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
(Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth) sings hymns at heaven’s gate;
       For thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings
       That then I scorn to change my state with kings.
