Stravinsky

This is one of my favorite pieces for solo viola along with his viola sonata (op. 140) which was the last piece he wrote. Personally, I could do without the middle section in the Elegie, but I do love the A section. It is so strange to think he has only been dead for 50 years. The Rite of Spring seems like it belongs to a different century. And yes, technically it does belong to the 20th century. But it was written in the same year as the end of WWI. It is yet another indicator of the sheer amount of variety of music that exploded in the 20th century, and just how much has shifted in terms of tectonic cultural changes.
