Maxim Vengerov was supposed to have come to the US this summer for a solo recital,
having just come out of retirement.
This video is a sad substitute, and I would not list Tchaikovsky on my list of ten top 10 composers.
But his playing is so beautiful, and this minor opening is so lyrical and nostalgic. If you agree about Tchaikovsky, skip ahead for some beautiful Mozart and Schubert.
Violinist Maxim Vengerov, performed an exclusive live living room concert from Russia on Thursday 26 March 2020, for all or us at home. In case you missed it – or want to watch it again – you can watch it in full above.
Programme:
Tchaikovsky: Piano Trio, Op.50
Mozart: Violin Sonata No. 32 in B-Flat Major
Schubert: Fantasy in C major
