Jake Shimabukuro began writing this song while on tour in Japan. He was in his hotel room reflecting on the people he meets as he travels. This version of "Ichigo Ichie" was performed live in-studio on Performance Today.
The title: "one time, one meeting" or "once in a lifetime encounter."
