nobel week

I always wondered about the process of creating these. I started following the Nobel's Facebook page a while ago, reading about these innovators. And this week is Nobel week, where they will be receiving their prizes. Bob Dylan apparently will not be attending to receive his prize. Can you hear my eye roll?

Creating a Nobel Medal – a work of handmade precision
The design of the medals vary between categories, but they all have a portrait of Alfred Nobel depicting the front side and the back side of the medal is adapted to the category. The only personalized trait with the medals is that the name of the Nobel Laureate is engraved on the medal. All the medal weight about 175 grams, except the medal in Economic Sciences that weights about 185 grams.
The medals in Physics, Chemistry, Medicine or Physiology and Literature was designed by Erik Lindberg whilst the Nobel Peace Prize Medal was designed by Gustav Vigeland. When the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel was introduced in 1968 (in order to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Sveriges Riksbank, Swedish Central Bank) the medal in Economic Sciences was designed by Gunvor Svensson-Lundqvist.
Since 2012 the Nobel Medals has been manufactured by Svenska Medalj in Eskilstuna, Sweden. Before that they were produced by Myntverket (the Royal Mint) and Det Norske Myntverket (Mint of Norway).
