As I cleaned up my nightstand recently, I counted no less than 8 books which I have possibly perused but not exactly thoroughly read. It contains collections of Pablo Neruda and Emily Dickinson poems, Joseph Campbell, an illustrated comic book introduction to F. Nietzsche, a philosopher's guide to happiness, among others.
I felt sheepishly compelled to look up this wonderful Japanese word to describe the current and ongoing situation...
tsundoku: n., leaving a book unread after buying it, typically piled up together with other unread books.
What would we do if we couldn't laugh at our own ridiculousness?
At the very least, I come by my name honestly.
