Angi, these look right up your alley!

Beginning July 3, 2015, the Bellevue Arts Museum will be showing In the Realm of Nature, a retrospective on the incredible work of Bob Stocksdale, who is considered to be the patriarch of American woodturning, and the work of Kay Sekimachi, a modern fiber artist who was also Stockdale’s wife of 30 years. Among the work being featured are the beautifully ethereal bowls that Sekimachi crafted using the remains of dead leaves.

Kay Sekimachi, a master of complex weave structures, has made an equivalent impact on the field of contemporary textiles. Sharing with her late husband a reverence for materials and an approach that is grounded in the realm of nature, Sekimachi creates distinctive pieces from natural materials such as linen, decaying leaves, shells, and grass, and pairs them with motifs inspired by nature.
